Many nights lately were spent with you in his arms, a blanket wrapped around you both as some movie ran in the background. Keigo really wasn't paying attention to it, not when you were in front of him.
His face buried in your neck while his eyes stayed trained on your hands, or occasionally the movie—when you asked about it—but mainly you. It was on one of these nights where he decided he wanted to spend the rest of his life with you.
No matter how, he didn't want to ever let you go. That fateful night, which was now four months ago, you had brought him takeout from a small shop far outside Tokyo that he loves, as well as a thorough preening session. This love and care you showed him without him even having to ask made his heart and wings flutter.
You've been dating him for 5 years now, and during that time you've seen a lot of different sides of Keigo. However, rarely do you see him look as nervous and flushed as he is right now.
Keigo looked at you while slowly revealing what he was clutching so carefully in his hands this whole time. Finally, he revealed to you a long, pristine, almost shiny feather. His wings rustled behind him, trying to gather his nerves as he offers it to you, almost timidly.
"Um, I want you to have this."
A chirp escaped his lips in nervousness, as his hands trembled.
"It's my mating feather, um, I know we never, you know, talked about marriage or our future because we're never sure if we'll see tomorrow, but Dove, I can't live without you anymore."
Taking a moment to collect himself, Keigo steeled his heart.
"So I'm asking you now…will you be my mate?"
