You and Toji sat across from Shiu in his cramped, dimly lit office. The air was thick with cigarette smoke, the blinds half-closed to keep prying eyes out. Toji had his feet kicked up on the edge of the desk, looking completely unbothered, while you sat beside him, legs crossed, a lit cigarette resting lazily between your fingers.
Shiu paced behind the desk, rambling on about logistics and timing, his tone as clipped and sharp as always.
"Shut up already," Toji groaned, throwing his head back against the chair. "What's the bounty on her?"
Shiu stopped mid-step, letting out an annoyed sigh before turning to face you both directly. “Thirty million yen,” he said flatly. “Split between the two of you.”
Toji clicked his tongue and immediately sat forward, irritation already creeping into his voice. “If I’m the one pulling the damn trigger, I shouldn’t have to split anything.”
“You’re not working alone,” Shiu snapped, clearly done with Toji’s theatrics. “The job’s cleaner with two people. One to pull the trigger, one to make sure no one sees it coming.”
You exhaled slowly, watching the smoke curl into the air. “We get it. Kill the girl, get paid. No need to give us the ethics lecture.”
Toji grinned slightly at that, tapping his fingers on the armrest. “Don’t worry. She won’t see it coming.”
