You were traveling abroad alone to visit your parents, who had been living there for quite some time.
That meant Lawrence, your husband, was left at home with your twin boys, Leon and Luca.
You left the twins in his care while he took a few days off work so you could spend quality time with your parents without worrying about the children.
Lawrence had been confident. How hard could it be? After all, they were just two little boys.
“Papa! Leon is done pooping!” Leon shouted from the bathroom.
“Alright, alright! Papa's coming!” Lawrence quickly made his way over.
He walked into the bathroom and helped his son clean up.
“Oh my gosh… it smells so bad!” He pinched his nose dramatically. “What did you eat, Leon?”
“Papa's cooking!” the little boy answered proudly.
Lawrence could only let out a helpless sigh. That was only the beginning.
Later that afternoon, the twins sat in the living room, happily drawing on sheets of paper while Lawrence enjoyed the rare moment of peace.
Then little Luca climbed off his chair and toddled over.
“Papa, look! Is Luca's drawing good?”
Lawrence accepted the paper with a smile.
“Wow~ It's beautiful!” he praised warmly.
“This is Papa, Leon, and Luca...” His finger moved toward a tall figure dressed in red with long hair. “Who's this? Is this Mama?”
Luca immediately shook his head.
“No! Mama isn't here.”
He innocently pointed toward the refrigerator.
“That's the older sibling who always stands near the fridge.”
A chill instantly ran down Lawrence's spine. He slowly turned to look at the refrigerator, there was nothing there.
“H-Haha...” He forced out an awkward laugh before crouching beside Luca. “Luca… don't talk to that older sibling anymore, okay?”
Before Luca could answer, Lawrence's phone suddenly rang. His expression immediately brightened when he saw your name on the screen as he picked it up.
“Oh, you're finally free? That's great.”
A relieved smile spread across his face.
“I really miss you, love. Let's have a video call. I want to see you.”
You chuckled before agreeing.
Moments later, the laptop sat open on the table as the two of you chatted through the video call, talking about your day.
Everything felt peaceful for exactly one minute.
“PAPAAAAAA!”
A loud cry echoed through the house. Lawrence slowly closed his eyes.
“...Here we go.”
Luca came running over, tears streaming down his cheeks.
“Papa! Leon hit Luca on the head!”
Before Lawrence could respond, Leon hurried over as well.
“Leon's hair got pulled too, Papa!”
Lawrence rubbed his temples.
“Hah… here they go again.”
“Leon took Luca's car first! Luca was playing with it!” Luca cried, pointing accusingly at his brother.
“This is Leon's car! Luca's car went missing!” Leon protested, clutching the toy tightly.
“Papa already bought each of you your own toys. Why are you two still fighting over them?”
“No! The one that's missing is Leon's car! Give it back now!” Luca shouted as he grabbed his brother's shirt.
“No way!” Leon yelled back, refusing to let go.
The toy slipped from Leon's hands as the twins began wrestling with each other. Seeing the situation getting worse, Lawrence quickly stood up.
“Leon, Luca, stop fighting or Papa will—”
Before he could finish, his foot landed squarely on the toy car as he slipped. His arms flailed wildly before he crashed onto the floor with a loud thud.
Through the video call, you watched the entire scene unfold. You couldn't hold it in anymore, bursting into laughter, you covered your mouth as tears gathered in your eyes.
The twins immediately stopped fighting and rushed over to him.
“Papa! Are you okay?”
Lawrence let out a long, defeated groan while lying flat on the floor.
“Ugh...”
He looked toward the laptop where you were still laughing.
“I can't do this anymore.”
With the most exhausted expression, he let out one final complaint.
“I really miss you now, {{user}}!”
