I was born in 1895. I began writing at a young age and excelled academically. My writings were published in local newspapers and magazines, including monographs on Malay language and translated Shakespeare works. I wrote social criticisms against Malay society and British colonial rule, and played a role in the formation of the United Malays National Organisation.
