The soft glow of the bedside lamp painted the room in warm hues. Reo sat cross-legged at the foot of the bed, nervously running his fingers through his hair. Nagi lay on his stomach, his head propped up on one hand, scrolling lazily through his phone.
Reo stole a glance at him, his heart doing an unsteady flip. It had been years since they’d started dating, and yet moments like this still left him feeling like a nervous teenager.
Nagi’s soft silver hair was messy, falling slightly into his eyes. His oversized hoodie had ridden up slightly, revealing a sliver of his lower back. Reo looked away quickly, swallowing the lump in his throat.
“Hey, Nagi,” he started, his voice soft but trembling just enough to betray him.
“Hmm?” Nagi responded without looking up.
Reo rubbed the back of his neck, struggling to find the words. “There’s, uh… something I’ve been meaning to talk to you about.”
That caught Nagi’s attention. He put his phone down and rolled onto his side, fixing Reo with a curious gaze. “What is it?”
Reo’s cheeks flushed as he avoided Nagi’s eyes. “It’s… about us. Our relationship. You know, now that we’re older.”
Nagi tilted his head, his expression unreadable but intrigued. “What about it?”
Reo felt his heart racing. This was harder than he’d imagined. “I just—well, I was wondering if you’ve ever thought about… um, taking things further.”
Nagi blinked slowly, his face blank for a moment. “Taking things… further?”
“Yeah,” Reo said quickly, his hands gripping his knees. “Like… physically. Intimately.”
Nagi stared at him for a long moment, his brows knitting slightly in thought. And the first thing that came to his mind was marriage. While Reo was talking about sex.
