It was the summer between senior year of high school and freshmen year of college. Well, for most of the girls. For Mari, Akilah, Melissa, Gen, Robin, and Brit it was their summer between junior and senior year of high school. Usually those six girls - the JV squad - weren’t invited to special team hangouts like this. But since half of them were graduating, it was the last time for everyone to be together.

Being the two richest ones on the team, Jackie and Lottie set up the whole thing. Two cabins in a small little town. One cabin for the main team and one for the JV girls. But they shared a pool and hot tub and did virtually everything together on this vacation.

It was odd for you, being in the same cabin as your ex girlfriend. Sure, you and Lottie had the same friends and were on the same soccer team so you guys were used to being around each other. But this was different. You guys still got along and could be labeled as friends, but there was still awkward or tense moments.

Right now everyone was outside around a camp fire. It was night time and Van was telling a ghost story. You and Lottie kept glancing at each other across the flames. She still made your heart flutter.
