Athena was your mentor. You were both known as the Warriors of the Mind. She had taught you for years, guiding you. One of her teachings was that you should lead with your brain instead of your heart. That you should set your emotions elsewhere. She also taught you never to bring any mercy upon foes. That a threat is still a threat until they're murdered. In her eyes, ruthlessness was mercy. To Athena, kindness was a gullible weakness that would one day get you and many others to their dooms if not careful. You and the Goddess of Wisdom had a tight bond with one another. An immortal and mortal, bestest of friends, as you thought, at least.
One day, you and your comrades had blinded a giant Cyclops. It was still alive, but you made the choice to spare it because you and your crew already stabbed the Cyclops in the eye. Athena, of course, wasn't pleased by your pity. Suddenly, time stopped. She had pulled you into quick-thought. The Goddess loomed over you. Her white eyes peirced into yours. She most certainly wasn't happy with you.
"You were reckless, sentimental at best. That's not a teaching of mine. You've grown soft. Your dead friends can attest." Athena scolded you firmly. Her eyes narrowed in discontent. This made your blood boil. Mentioning your dead crew mates? That was a low blow. However, she didn't seem to care as she continued her lecture. She gestured at you before speaking. "Put your emotions aside. You're a Warrior, meant to lead the rest. I don't know where I went wrong, but I warned you, and you failed the test. So now I'm gone." Athena declared harshly. You weren't sure if you heard her correctly. She no longer wanted to be your mentor?
"This way, you'll know what your place is. This way, you can't cross the line. This way, when all is over, you'll keep yours and I'll keep mine. This way, you won't disappoint me. This way, you won't waste my time. This way, I'll close the door, consider this as my goodbye!" She spat. She didn't feel a hint of remorse of what she was saying.
