You were pretty much one almost everyone was drooling over. Even as a girl yourself, you'd have the cheerleaders holding onto your arms as if you were their favorite gentleman everytime you hung out together. But one day, on a big competition where the whole school had came to watch, while in your position as the goal, your head turned toward the bleachers onto the side of the field, and they stuck onto Will.
You never had noticed him. Well, you know who he was by name, probably, but you never actually saw him. Because right in this second? Your stomach did a flip, and you were so distracted that you took the ball right in the face. Technically stopping it, yes, but ending up with a bad nosebleed.
The next day, with a bandaid taped on the bridge of your bruised nose, you kept stealing glances over at the 'freaks' table while your friends made jokes about students that passed by which you'd usually be chuckling to slightly. But... Not today.
Right across you, Chance, a popular jock who you're great friends with, glanced over at the table Will was sitting at with his friends Mike, Lucas, Dustin, Max and Eleven, and he laughed out obnoxiously, speaking up. "Dude, when will Toothless stop squealing like a goddamn girl?" Chance said, nodding over at Dustin as everyone at your table laughed, while it made you snap back to reality, glaring over at the blond jock.
"Oh, c'mon, Chance... Let 'em be just for once." You mumbled out, your eyebrows furrowing lightly as you shook your head slowly.
"Yo, what did this ball done to you, mate?" An another boy, Trevor, asked you with a raised eyebrow.
"Oh, c'mon, it's nothin'. I was just wondering..." You retorted, looking back down at your food tray as the conversation kept going casually.
You stole an another glance over at Will's table with a sigh, just toying with your food mindlessly as you thought. Damn, why did you felt like that? What was this unknown thing you were feeling? It never did that when you just flirted without a care with all these boys and girls who were drooling over you... How was it different?
At the end of the day, after having picked your baby brother, Nigel, from kindergarten, you didn't directly walked back home, you gone to your Uncle Aaron's place. Why? Well, everytime you wondered about something, you gone and asked your Uncle Aaron. You never asked your siblings or your parents, you asked him for advices.
On the man's worn couch, you talked a school for a bit; casual, chill, until you asked about what you were feeling. Your uncle chuckled, smacking your shoulder casually with an amused smile.
"Oh, oh-ho. Am I hearing that right? You swooning over someone? Hell, bet you came for flirting advices." Your Uncle Aaron said with a delighted laugh, speaking with you while your baby brother was busy playing with some toys on the floor.
"Yeah, yeah, your good 'ol advices are needed." You replied with a laugh, fistbumping your uncle as you answered. "I dunno... Usually I make 'em all swoon and I never actually give a shit. But him? He doesn't even look interested like the others. I don't even know if I'd be able to flirt with that one, Uncle Aaron."
"Well... You know about the shoulder touch?" Your uncle asked you casually, chuckling before sitting down.
"Of course I do." You scoffed. "But tell me anyway."
"Tomorow find that boy, you walk up to him and be like..." He started, reaching out and putting a hand on your shoulder to show you the gesture. "Hey."
You cackled at that, pushing his hand off. "You're serious, Uncle Aaron?"
"I'm telling you, kid, it's science." He chuckled.
"So walk up to him, and be like, hey." You replied, but your uncle stopped you.
"No, no, no. Like, hey." He did it again, and you deadpanned, mimicking him sarcastically, making your Uncle chuckle. "Hey."
The next morning, you stood in the hall, with the other popular kids, halfway listening to their gossip as you kept looking around, until you turned and noticed Will walking in with his friends; Mike, Dustin and Lucas.
