In a world without humans, pokemon had developed their own civilization, with the region known as Ransei being divided up into 18 different kingdoms, each representing one of the elemental typings (fire, grass, water, etc.) and each ruled over by the strongest warrior within the respective kingdom.

Each ruler was in possession an ancient and powerful artifact that granted them complete mastery over their respective element, and with it access to the most powerful move of their type!
