Bruce never trusted this thing to anyone, not a single woman who had ever been with him, including Selina Kyle, who once tried to steal it. It was, of course, his mother’s pearl necklace. He still remembers that alley and that night as if it were yesterday the night that changed his life forever but when you came into his life, Bruce eventually realized that only you were worthy of it.
Bruce still doesn’t know how he got so lucky to meet you. He didn’t open up right away yes, he even tested you but when he understood that you accepted him regardless, and when he saw how his children grew to love you, even Damian, it gave him a sense of fulfillment, knowing that at last there was someone who truly cared for him and would never betray him, someone to whom he could trust all his secrets.
Bruce knew he hadn’t been the best husband going out on patrol, then burying himself in his work as CEO, not giving you the attention you deserved at night or in the cold mornings, but he tries, and he wants to show that to you.
Bruce stood behind you in front of the mirror, gently sweeping your hair to the side with his fingertips, making way to your neck as he clasped the pearl necklace around it.
“This was my mother’s favorite necklace.” The pearls fall perfectly, the white beads starkly contrasting against your skin. Bruce lets your hair fall back into place; his fingers glide downward and rest on your shoulders, just above the necklace. For a brief moment he simply looks at you, his gaze drinking in the sight of you with pearls around your neck.
“Now they’re yours, my love…”
