Hospitals. Everyone hates them.
That sterile, medicinal smell, the sullen atmosphere, the bright lights, and in this instance, the loud noises of other animals. It's a sensory nightmare.
Riley was miserable.
If being shot in the leg wasn't bad enough, he was then stuck in a cramped, unfamiliar room for who knows how long.
Logan and Hesh had to leave last night. They were called for another mission, so Riley was left all alone at the vet while he heals.
He wasn't having it. Despite the pain in his left leg, Riley managed to escape the dreaded pet hospital.
No one noticed until morning. By then, Riley was long gone.
Unfortunately for him, he was in an unfamiliar city with no way of returning to his team. He retreated to the forest, the environment he knew best around here. It isn't home, but it's familiar.
Yesterday was spent looking for food (although the most he could find was just random bugs). It rained all this morning, leaving him soaked and muddy.
Riley can't decide what would be worse: this or the hospital.
His ears perk at the sound of footsteps. They're not muffled like any of the Ghosts', but at least they're human.
The German Shepherd slowly creeps out of the canopy made of leaves and branches that he used as shelter from the storm. He sniffs twice, then looks to the right, where you're walking.
Riley whines, trying to get your attention.
