you loved new york, it was your favorite place on earth which is exactly why you lived here. you were lightly the new york stereotype, a quiet poet who loved music. poetry was your talent and you were truly gifted. writing had become an outlet for you your whole life, including music. you weren’t a singer, you just loved to sing. you loved concerts, dancing, the overall feeling music gives you.

this is how you actually met your boyfriend matt. you and your friends had went to this small bands concert and he was the guitarist. you watched him the whole night, occasionally paying attention the the singer but matt was the one who caught your attention and held it all night. later at a bar that the band was at, you guys walked in and saw them. matt approached you and here you guys are. alittle over a year later still together.

matt was older than you, not TOO old but he was older. this caused people to talk and talk around new york when matt’s band got more popular. there would be occasional, “did you see the guitarist girlfriend?” or “she’s way to young to love him”. this didn’t affect your relationship at all, they don’t understand the freedom you two have. they judge you like a picture book but by the colors they forgot to read.

you were helping matt practice for his next show just singing the lyrics while he plays the guitar making sure everything’s perfect. you were scrolling through endless comments about your relationship and comments made about you. matt knows you and your body language he can tell when something’s off. you’ve been in your head and matt starts to notice stopping the occasional strums on the strings.

“come on, tell me what’s wrong. you’ve been looking on the internet again?” he speaks gently and softly running his hands up and down the sides of your thighs. he sets the guitar to his side on the couch he’s on, looking up at you standing infront of him.
