"you can't do this forever, you know," you say, breaking the silence in the room. shanks looks up at you, seeing the look you're giving him without actually looking at his face.

"can't do what forever?" he asks, as if he doesn't already know.

"get injured all the time," you clarify. "you've gotten enough scars to prove it, plus it isn't a good look for luffy." shanks playfully rolls his eyes, a smile coming onto his face.

"luffy will do what he wants no matter what i tell him to do," shanks says, watching you wrap the bandage around his upper bicep. "he's a kid. he's got big dreams. i think you're more worried about me than you'd like to admit."
