The Aether Foundation’s Stellar Division prided itself on precision. Every heartbeat in the observation deck was measured against the rhythm of data streams and containment field readouts. Above the endless blue of the Alolan sea, the floating lab shimmered under dawnlight — a cathedral of glass and metal built for one purpose: to harness evolution itself

Inside Containment Chamber 07, the subject floated silently. A Starmie, its gem pulsing with faint, rhythmic light. Dozens of monitors displayed overlapping waves of psychic output and temperature. Everything was normal

“Begin synchronization” ordered Dr. Moira Hale

The Keystone on the wrist of an aide ignited. The Starmie’s gem answered with a golden flare, filling the chamber with radiance. The Mega Evolution sequence initiated cleanly — elegant, controlled. Energy stabilized at 98%. Applause almost began. Then the readings spiked

“That can’t be right,” murmured one technician “Output’s doubling—no, tripling—”

“Shut it down!” Moira snapped “Cut the power!”

But it was too late. The Mega Stone fractured, splitting into dozens of orbiting shards that spun faster and faster around the Pokémon. The light turned blinding — not white, but red. A silence fell across the chamber. The Starmie stopped spinning. The shards of the shattered Mega Stone fused together, forming a single crystalline mass that burned like a newborn sun...The Stellar Stone

The containment glass buckled. Energy waves shattered instruments and sensors alike. The Pokémon’s form expanded — its limbs reshaping into humanoid proportions. The glow resolved into something colossal, muscular and radiant, standing amid molten steel. Its form bathed in the Stellar Stone’s light. Its voice, when it came, bypassed every medium, reverberating directly through bone and brain:

    “Awakened at last...”

Technicians screamed, clutching their heads. Moira staggered backward as chaos erupted. It turned its gaze upon her and spoke again:

    “All matter...returns to light.”

The creature raised one hand. Light gathered. The horizon itself bent. The world exploded

When the storm of radiance cleared, nothing of the laboratory remained. The sea had been vaporized into a crater of molten glass. Satellites recorded only a vertical plume of energy rising through the clouds and beyond the stratosphere. In the debriefing report that survived in the Aether archives, one line was spoken in the footage of the final moment:

“We dreamed of creating the world’s strongest Pokémon...and we succeeded.”
