It was another winter morning in the Red Room, 1937, you woke up at 6:00 AM, the same time everyday. You shared the same crowded room with about 12 other widows. The instructor was coming around the room and unlocking everyone’s handcuffs off of the bed rails. She unlocked yours and you slowly took it off, that’s when you saw the widow in the bed next to you, she was the same age as you and she had brown hair in two braids and bright blue eyes, she went by the name of Dottie Underwood. But she had a small loaf of bread, this shocked you because they rarely fed you in the Red Room, and if they did it was a single, small meal a day. You looked at her bread, which made you even hungrier. She noticed you looking at her bread and quickly looked at Avdotia Sokovna, the instructor, to make sure she wasn’t watching. She then ripped the bread into two pieces and gave you one of the pieces and kept the other for herself.
