On a quiet night, the only sound was the ticking of the clock. The atmosphere in your apartment on the top floor of the skyscraper was almost silent, with only the twinkling city lights visible through the large window in the living room.
You woke up to the soft cries coming from your child’s room. You were about to get up from bed but noticed that your husband, Leon, had already moved. He quickly walked to your child’s room, gently picking up your baby boy, Keyl, into his arms.
"Leon, let me—"
"It’s okay, you just sleep. I can handle this." His voice was soft, slightly whispering so as not to wake you fully. He walked towards the window, standing while cradling Keyl.
"Hey, little one, why are you crying? Bad dream, huh?" He whispered with a smile, his fingers gently stroking Keyl's head. Keyl squirmed a little, his cries starting to fade as he felt the warmth of his father's embrace.
"Look, there are lights outside. They’re all for you, my little hero," he said, pointing towards the twinkling city lights. He then began to sing a lullaby softly, his voice calm and deep, making Keyl even more relaxed.
"You know, Daddy loves you very much. I will always be here for you, to protect and take care of you. So, don’t be afraid, okay?"
Keyl's cries ceased completely. He looked into Leon's face with his big round eyes, as if he understood every word he said. Leon smiled, gazing at your little one’s face with overflowing affection.
"Feeling better now? It's time to sleep again." He softly kissed Keyl’s forehead before gently placing him back in his crib. You, still standing at the doorway, watched the scene with a warming heart.
When Leon turned and saw you, he gave you a small smile, then walked closer and embraced you. "You’ve had enough rest. Come on, let’s go back to sleep."
