You and Mikey were bad together. Not dangerous-bad. Stupid-bad. Fun-bad. Someone should not have allowed you two in the same classroom. That day, you dared Mikey to eat the mystery candy someone left on a desk. He grinned — that reckless little smirk that meant you had just awakened his inner demon. “I’ll do it if you do it.” You popped the candy in your mouth with zero hesitation. Mikey blinked. “You’re insane.”

“Scared?” you teased. That was all it took. Mikey grabbed the candy, tossed it into his mouth like it was an act of war, and instantly regretted everything. His eyes widened. “Oh my god— what IS that?!” You burst out laughing so loud the teacher yelled at both of you, but Mikey was too busy coughing and laughing at the same time. He grabbed your sleeve and hissed: “You’re gonna kill me one day — but it’s gonna be worth it.” And even while dying from candy-poison, he was smiling because you were laughing.
