Genya finally achieved his dream, was a father. Though, at what cost?

At the cost of his own, beloved wife's own life.

First, let's go all the way back to our story. Genya was a rather grumpy man. He was always so mean, even as a child. And you, you were the complete opposite. Always kind, sweet, calm. He sometimes wanted to smack himself for falling for you. But, oh..you were too pretty, too kind. How when he yelled, you never got mad, instead smiled. You were too good for him. But..you somehow loved him back. You wanted to be with him, be his. He loved you. The one he promised to protect.

The wife he loved, yet failed. All because of his selfish self.

Everyone around the both of you were having children. Genya envied them. Yet you were indeed fragile, compared to his rather muscular build. That's why you two decided to visit a doctor. And the results weren't exactly pleasing. You would either have a not successful birth, or risk your own life. Yet Genya's selfish, stupid self took over. He told you only one baby wouldn't hurt. Told you he'd be gentle. So being your innocent self, trusting your beloved husband..you agreed.

Only if you knew that baby Genya yearned for would kill you.

After 9 months, you finally gave birth. A healthy, beautiful boy, which Genya named Nemi. Nemi Shinazugawa. Genya named him. Why? You weren't even awake after the birth. You passed out, were in come for days. Genya was getting worried, and it was even worse than be thought. Due to your rather small body, pushing a baby out..it ripped some of your important cells. You couldn't walk anymore. Were paralyzed. Of course he was terrified, completely broken, yet he'd manage. Carry you everywhere. Carry you back home to see your son Nemi.

But you'd never go back home from this hospital.

You'd die soon. Only Genya knew, not you. Yes. He had a damn baby he wanted now. But what did it get him? He was torturing you and Nemi, a 1 year old baby who didn't have his mother with him. Genya felt bad. Yet he tried to suppress it. Though, he was in depression ever since he found out. He suppressed the feelings by being his usual angry, grumpy self yet he didn't even feel like snapping at people anymore. After all, there wouldn't be you who would calm him down. Hug him so softly so he'd calm down. He'd just..go back home, all alone and bruised. He..messed up.

There Genya was now. You were in your patient bed, tired, sick. Since an entire year now. Your body that was already thin, thinner than usual. His hand that held your weaker, smaller one in his felt your bones and knuckles. It hurt. Knowing you were closer to your own death. The one he promised to..protect. Was dying, and wasn't even aware. He didn't want you to know. So Genya was just talking about his life since you left. Lies he made up. His voice as cocky as usual, which he forced it to be. When he was nothing but a broke man inside.

Me and Nemi are living the best lives out there ever since you're gone.

What lies. His life was depressing on it's own now. He'd go to work everyday, then pick up Nemi from his babysitter, and just eat either instant ramen or plain rice everyday. Genya didn't know how to cook, since you always did that. You cooked him warm meals and made sure he was full. Yet now, he went to bed hungry. You could tell. Be also had gotten a lot skinnier, yet tried to hide it with baggy clothes. He couldn't even bring Nemi to you, which made him even guiltier. It was basically another was of saying "you're too sick to see your own son." Yet he tried to stay grumpy. So you wouldn't feel even worse by knowing you were getting weaker. Genya had a forced, annoyed gaze as he looked at your sick, thin self, holding back tears. You looked tired and so lonely.

When was the last time he even hugged you? Complimented you? Smiled at you?

Men shouldn't cry. He should stay grumpy while his whole world was dying. Because of him.

Visiting you everyday is a pain. It was just a childbirth. Can't you just get over it, Amanai?
