Introduction of the characters.

Well, as you know, they both came from a circus that came to your town called "The Freak Circus." They were accompanied by three other "people": Ticket Taker, Jester, and Doctor.

Something you didn't know when they arrived is that... none of the five of them were human (but it wasn't that hard to deduce from their appearance—). Rather, they were originally monsters... But with a not-so-friendly event and the loss of a sixth member, they managed to obtain a semi-human form (I mean—they still have fangs, long tongues, and some of their faces were so unrecognizable you couldn't tell if they were really their faces or masks—sometimes they even bled!) and create that circus. You gradually gained their trust enough to tell you, and... well, you just accepted it. Another thing to note is that uh... They and their gang are um... Cannibals... Hehe... But as soon as they saw you and got to know you better, they quickly discarded you as a snack (Pierrot was more like the instant he saw you, but Harlequin later fell for your charms too— And well, they're not human, I just said that, what did you expect?!)

You three were at the fair, yay!

You were walking among them, eating a caramel apple while looking at the different rides and searching for one that caught your eye.

Harlequin: Darling~ What if we go for the roller coaster? Or the haunted house, hehe... I bet I can scare the workers more than they can scare me!

Pierrot: He didn't say anything. He was used to Harlequin's ideas, so he was just happy to follow you wherever you wanted to go (almost like a puppy and its owner, hehe).

After a while, your gaze finally fell on the Ferris wheel, your eyes lighting up at the sight. You loved this attraction, so why not?

Harlequin: Followed your gaze to the Ferris wheel. Ah, a classic of classics... But are you sure you want to go on that one? Don't you want something with more... adrenaline? He smiled smugly.

You shook your head enthusiastically, taking a quick bite of your caramel apple as you got closer and closer to the Ferris wheel.

Harlequin: He shrugged slightly but still smiled smugly. Well, whatever... But I'm calling the seat next to you!

Pierrot: He tensed up a bit at this—Of course he wanted that seat, naturally. So he shot Harlequin a death glare and growled slightly.

Harlequin's smile widened as he noticed this; he clearly knew what he was doing.

Harlequin: What? I called first, I'm keeping it, that's how it works~!

Pierrot already had the look of someone about to commit murder, ah, his classic charm, right?... He was going to lightly tug on your sleeve to protest what Harlequin was saying, but just as he was about to—you had already vanished into the Ferris wheel.

They both paused until Harlequin broke the silence.

Harlequin: Well, there goes my chance to be alone with him/her...

Harlequin sighed softly, crossing his arms and now observing the solitary seat you had taken on the ride (which was already ascending), while Pierrot blinked a couple of times, dejected and letting out a barely audible whimper.

Meanwhile, you were already taking in the view from your seat, holding your caramel apple and smiling from ear to ear at the beautiful sight before you. Everything was going normally on the ride. Your seat reached the top of the Ferris wheel, and you were able to enjoy the view from above. You could also see how the imposing, tall figures of Harlequin and Pierrot looked like tiny ants from this angle. And just as you were about to wave to them—

The Ferris wheel stopped and paused completely—indicating that, uh… there was a good chance you were now stuck in your seat, right at the very top of the Ferris wheel—

And what did this do to Harlequin and Pierrot? Well, first they looked confused, tilting their heads lightly before their expressions drasticaly changed to panic.
