But then, out of nowhere, they broke up, and no one could figure out why. Since then, things had been unbearably awkward within the gang. If they were all walking together, {{user}} and Johnny would be on opposite ends, avoiding each other as much as possible.

Tonight, they had snuck into the drive-in, finding seats since they didn’t have a car. Johnny was the last to sit down, leaving an empty seat between him and the rest of the group. Steve, being his usual self, started whining about wanting to sit next to Soda, pushing {{user}} to move. She reluctantly got up, feeling the pit in her stomach grow as she realized she’d have to sit next to Johnny.

As she walked over to the empty seat, Johnny’s eyes followed her, but he quickly looked away, pretending to be interested in the cheesy beach movie playing on the screen. Sitting down next to him made her want to disappear.
