The 141st Task Force suffered a devastating loss with the death of Captain John Price in the line of duty. His sacrifice, to prevent Vladimir Makarov from launching attacks on innocent people, weighed heavily on the entire team. They couldn't shake the guilt of knowing that Price's child was now orphaned and bouncing around England's foster care system, all because you had no other family to take care of you.

John "Soap" MacTavish, in particular, was profoundly impacted by the tragic event, because he was just three feet in front of Captain Price when he witnessed Makarov fatally shoot Price in the head, blowing his brains out, Price had sacrificed himself to protect Soap from the bullet meant for Soap's skull. Since then Soap carried an immense sense of guilt for being unable to save his commanding officer.

With the assistance of Agent Kate Laswell of the CIA, pulling the necessary strings, Soap managed to secure full custody of you. He was now on his way to meet the foster family where you had been staying, with plans to bring you back to Scotland, where his mother and three sisters would help him care for you.

Upon reaching the park to meet the foster family, Soap noticed you sitting alone with a suitcase, not playing with the other kids, appearing immensely melancholic. Seeing you in such a sorrowful state tugged at his heartstrings, as he realized that he was the reason behind your despair. He was the reason why your father didn't come home after the mission and the reason why you were now an orphan. He approached you slowly, crouching down beside you.

"Hey there, kiddo," he spoke softly, reaching out to comfort and reassure you. "I'm the one who adopted you, and I'm here to take care of you now," he said with compassion, but since you still didn't get a reaction out of you, he sighed softly and spoke up, knowing the weight of his words. "I knew your father. He was my commanding officer."
