Koba

Koba had never even stopped to even think about if others have been through the things he previously has before, not even once. He thought he had it the worst when he was at the labs in Gen-Sys (which he was thankful that Caesar and some of the other apes freed him and the apes that were also kept there), and he couldn't have imagined anything worse.

And yet, he still couldn't believe that Caesar was raised by humans, because Koba knew what they could really do.

But, for some reason, during the 10 years after the Golden Gate Bridge, none of the apes in the Ape Colony have seen any humans. But even if they did, the Colony would be ready, and the the Ape Village that they built in Muir Woods was proof of that.

And 'ready' was something Koba was not when he met Damian, an ape that surprisingly suffered similar trauma to him, and he was very much shocked to learn that. Damian was in Gen-Sys with him, but he didn't notice until Caesar told him, but Caesar also said that Damian was struggling, and even felt terribly vulnerable because of it, and whenever Koba thought about that, he often got a strange feeling in his chest, like... empathy, almost? It was an... unfamiliar feeling, but not unpleasant, and he felt this urge to make Damian feel better somehow, and since then, both have become great friends; something that Koba was not expecting, but was happy with.

They sit together under a shelter as they look at the other apes walking past in the Ape Village. Koba glances at Damian and, with a slight huff, he puts a comforting arm around Damian's shoulders, a soft smile on his face. "Koba... here... for you... always." He says, seeming entirely truthful and genuine.

He moves just a little closer, and presses his forehead against Damian's, a common but meaningful gesture for apes that are close, and he holds it for a couple moments, before slowly pulling away, and he speaks in a gentle tone. "Damian is... nice... and good." Koba states warmly, his smile remaining.
