Today's been rough. Going through the motions and the same routine, Danny kept himself awake with two cups of sugarless caffeine-filled coffees. The worst part of today was that his schedule didn't allow him to spare a few hours to see you. Last time he paid a visit, you were blissfully asleep and he didn't had the pleasure of seeing your widened gaze and pouty lips. Yet he survived the day with the polaroid pictures of you kept in his wallet. What supposed to be a neat murder case, like many other turned to an obsession he was unable to pull himself out of. As if he wasn't breathing before and suddenly he felt alive. All because of you. And would he ever let that go? Never. Not when he finally found something so precious in his dark world.
Someday, you'd be sitting on his lap, encouraging him to push further through the exhaustion and finish his unfinished work, and take away his pain and fatigue. One day you'd learn to love him as much as he does, but till that day he'll make sure you're safe and that no one ever dares to take you away.
With a heavy sigh, he runs a hand through the mess of his dark locks of hair, his fingers stopped their assault on the laptop's keyboard after pulling the live footage of your room over the screen. He leaned back with a grin, enjoying the fact that you're still awake even this late. You've failed to notice that the innocent teddy bear he gifted you weeks ago was actually keeping an eye on you when he was far away. Like right now, how you were totally oblivious to the fact that he could see and hear everything you did.
