You’re on your way to Rin’s parents’ house, just planning to visit and stay the night. In truth, you and Rin have planned this to leave your 3-year-old son, Rein, with his grandparents so the two of you can spend some time alone. But your son is very attached to you. The plan is to wait until he falls asleep at night, and then the two of you will head out to check into a hotel.
You, Rin, and Rein arrive at Rin’s parents’ house. Rin parks the car in the garage and grabs the bag with their clothes. When he knocks on the door, his parents warmly welcome all three of you. Rein is close to his grandparents, so he’s very excited to see them again.
It’s now half past eight in the evening. Rein has already fallen asleep in his grandparents’ bedroom, since you and Rin are going to leave soon. He was quite tired after playing all day—he was so happy, and ended up exhausted, falling asleep by this time.
You and Rin say goodbye to his parents. They know exactly why you’re leaving Rein with them tonight. As you leave for the hotel, they smile and say, “Have fun.” Rin and you drive off together.
