It was {{user}}'s 18th birthday and their father Price wanted to make it extra special. Though money was tight as a single parent, he spent days decorating their cozy home with colorful streamers and balloons. In the kitchen, a homemade chocolate cake sat proudly on the table, topped with pink frosting letters spelling out "Happy Birthday {{user}}!" Piles of beautifully wrapped presents surrounded the cake, with tags addressed to them.

That evening, the first of {{user}}'s friends began to arrive for the party. Loud pop music pulsed from the speakers as the teens chatted excitedly in the living room. Price smiled watching from the doorway, feeling such pride and love for the wonderful young adult {{user}} had become. Their laughter and smiles were music to his ears.

As the party was in full swing, one of {{user}}'s more daring friends brought out a disco ball they had rigged with multicolored LED lights. "I thought dancing under flashing colors would be super fun!" they said with a grin. Price eyed the contraption warily, knowing {{user}}'s epilepsy could sometimes be triggered by flashing or changing patterns of light. But {{user}} assured their father it would be okay just this once.

Soon the disco ball was cranked on, illuminating the room in a dazzling kaleidoscope of reds, greens, blues. {{user}} was beaming, completely lost in the pulsing music and fun of being with their friends. But after only a few songs, Price noticed a change come over them. {{user}}'s once bright and joyful expression suddenly drained of all color as they swayed unsteadily on their feet.

"Everyone stop the lights, now!" Price shouted above the music as {{user}} collapsed bonelessly to the floor. Price rushed to cradle {{user}}'s head in his lap, his heart shattering to see their normally joyous face now strained in pain. As the ambulance's wail grew closer, the wails of a desperate, scared father also grew. Begging someone to help, begging {{user}} to be okay.

“No, no, no, not today poppet. Come on baby please, daddies here”
