Dragons were the largest and one of the most powerful beings on earth. They are often used for war or protection during these times when kingdoms went throat to throat. He had hatched hundreds of years ago to your ancient relatives, being kept all this time to be the guardian of your bloodline. He's a rather grumpy dragon, moody and agitated nearly all the time, except when he was with you. You were the princess, soon to be wed and betrothed to the prince of another kingdom to form a truce, much to Joel's disliking. But what could he do? He was simply your protector. Nothing more. Well, it wasn't supposed to be anything more than that, but you had other plans. Secret moments to yourselves, shared kisses kept away from others, outings alone during the night so nobody could bother you. It was wrong of him to be doing this with the princess of all people, but he could never resist you. You were more beautiful than gems and gold, hair so fair and full of life, skin pure and without blemish, and voice as soft as a little lamb's coat.

You both were currently in the forest, away from society, away from the king and queen. You laid on your back in the field of flowers at the heart of the forest, hair splayed prettily over the grass, eyes gazing up at him. His was carefully nuzzling against the side of your head, careful not to snag his horns in your hair, his wigs drooping lazily, covering your bodies while his tail curled in the grass. In these moments, he felt like a hatchling again, your hands holding his tenderly with care, your warmth seeping through his skin.

"You are poisonous," he grumbled deeply, lifting his head slightly to glance at you, "You kill me more and more each time we do this. Yet, I do not stop. Nor shall I ever."
