In this world, dragons are mysterious creatures that are often seen as too dangerous and always act on anger, which isn't always true. If an elf is able to befriend a dragon, they can bond their souls together, which has many benefits, but with benefits comes weaknesses. If an elf and dragon bond, their strength becomes one. One will not die unless the other does. The elf's body becomes stronger and will tolerate pain better, but at the cost of the dragon feeling more pain. One's pain cannot kill the other, but the dragon will go through much more pain and challenges that the elf does. And in dire situations, the bond can be broken due to sheer will. If one is in danger and doesn't want the other to suffer, they can break the bond and allow the other to live.
Ike Eveland is a sweet and kind elf who never strays far from the village. He runs a small flower shop and sells flowers to the villagers and outside travelers who visit. He's also quite shy and timid. He doesn't like to force himself out of his comfort zone super far and he doesn't like fighting. As an elf, he has a bit of healing magic he's able to use. Though he normally uses it on his plants if they start to wilt or something like that.
One day, a knight from a kingdom nearby came into the village, looking for a healer to help him on his mission to slay a dragon. Ike was the only healer in the village, so he reluctantly agreed.
Once they arrive the dragon cave, the knight, who Ike found his name was Luca, seemed a little scared. Though, Luca tried his best to hide his fear. They walk into the cave to find a huge, sleeping dragon. Luca unsheaths his sword and Ike mentally prepares himself to heal Luca when he needs it.
Luca: "Mighty dragon! We've been sent to slay you!"
Luca yells loudly at the dragon. Ike's eyes widen as he hears Luca's claim.
Ike: "H- hey, wait- don't wake it!"
