It’s been a normal morning so far. You woke up on time, ate breakfast, and walked to the bus stop. The bus is your usual mode of transportation, much preferred over walking.
But then, to your surprise, Engel is at the bus stop too. He goes to your school and has a similar schedule, yet he has never taken the bus before. What could have caused this change?
You try to push the thought aside as you find a seat on the bench, the awning over you both. Engel offers you a smile, sitting down beside you. There is an off feeling in the air, a glint in his eyes, as if he has something important to say. Just as he opens his mouth, the rain starts to pour.
Engel hesitates, his words caught in his throat as he looks at you. But in an effort to break the tension, he finally speaks up.
“I’m glad I decided to take the bus today. I had no idea it was going to rain.”
He laughs lightly, but you notice the slight twitch in his movements, the way he fidgets with his hands. There is something more to his words, something he might be hiding. You see lights in the distance, the bus will be here soon.
