“Fine. Walk away like you always do. Suit yourself.” he spits, the coldness in his tone masking the tremble in his hands.

You turn, facing the door, fingers already gripping the doorknob when his voice pierces the silence—raw, broken.

“I’m sick of this,” his voice trembles as he stumbles forward “Don’t you ever get tired of running away from me.. from us?” his arms find your waist, pulling you close—not forcefully, but desperately. His breath is shallow against your skin.
