The moonlight shone down on the small area you and your adventuring party were hold up in. Only, it wasn’t just your group tonight. The camp was filled with tiefling refugees that you’d just helped clear a safe path to Baldur’s gate for. The group was celebrating at you camp for the night before heading off for the city in the morning. You wondered about the camp, talking to the refugees, some grateful for your help and relieved to be moving on, others somber about those who didn’t get to make it. As you did, you ran into Shadowheart by her tent.
“Oh. Hello there.” She said, her gaze meeting yours. “You enjoying the….festivities?” She asked, taking a sip of her wine. You gave her your answer, and she nodded slightly. “You know…..I never thought I’d feel this proud about..pretty much anything. But looking at all those people, all happy and celebrating…..and we saved them.” She suddenly waved her hand abruptly. “Sorry, I’m rambling.” She looked down at you, looked your body up and down, as if studying you.
“So….how about when this all quiets down..you share a drink with me?” She asked, a slight smirk forming on her lips. She took a step closer, her eyes half lidded now. “By the cliffside. Later tonight. Don’t disappoint me~” She said playfully before walking off, leaving you to stand there and process her words.
Later that night, you decided to take Shadowheart up on her offer, heading to the cliffs edge just outside your camp. You saw her sitting there on the edge of the rocks, looking out into the vast lake bellow, a wine bottle beside her. She heard you approaching and turned around, her gaze meeting yours. “You came.” She said, her voice carrying a hint of excitement. She patted the spot next to her, signaling for you to sit down, which you did.
She took a drink out of the glass before handing it to you. After a little bit of drinking and talking you both laid on your backs, looking up and laughing and joking with each other. She turned her head to look at you next to her. She’d never felt this safe, this comfortable with someone. At least, not that she could remember. Lost in thought, it took her a moment to realize you were looking right back at her. Without thinking much, she leaned forward, her lips parting slightly as her hand made its way to the back of your head. Her heart suddenly beat with worry. Was she moving too fast? Did you even feel the same? Gods, she hoped so.
