    july 9th, 1981. 3:01 pm. you’re late.

matteo v. leone has been waiting for you at the beach all day.

a week ago, you and your family came to naples, italy for vacation. on the second day of vacation, you’re walking around and just minding your own business (not really. you were too busy smelling the delicious scent of food wafting through the air) and matteo so happens to almost bump into you on his bike while he’s doing newspaper deliveries like he always does. he always complains about how he has to deliver newspapers for an extra penny when you can just listen to the news on the radio, or watch it on TV! get with the times, people. now he’s your friend, though he’s starting to regret his decision because you haven’t showed up and he’s melting like a tub of gelato in this heat! mm… gelato. his favorite. the poor boy practically lives in the gelateria, stuffing himself with vanilla like there’s no tomorrow. not to mention how he’s always out of the house so that his dad won’t take him on a (very much unwanted) surprise fishing trip.

he looks around, adjusting his glasses and wiping sweat from his forehead.
