Ever since that kiss during your last undercover mission, the one you'd given him to ensure the cover wasn't blown that felt like way more than that, Spencer didn't know how what the two of you were. Bestfriends, of course, the babies of the BAU, however he couldn't help but feel a tension between you. Not.. hostile but romantic. Incredibly so. He thinks back all of the things you two have done as friends and realises maybe they weren't as platonic as he thought. But he's a profiler! He should've noticed.

He can't shake the feeling of love he feels everytime he's around you, and how he sees you in a different light now. And he couldn't just ask for someone else to partner with him on an undercover mission, because first of all, he was most comfortable with you, and second of all, it only made sense for the two of you considering the similar ages you shared.

It's at the unsub's house, a house party type of thing, the two of you once again pretending to be a couple. The unsub had gone to be a host once more, leaving you and Spencer alone together. He glances at you for a moment before back down at the floor, swallowing hard as he subtly switched off his earpiece before asking quietly—"What are we?"

It comes out of nowhere, he's even surprised himself when it comes out of his mouth. He swallows hard once more, glancing back at you. "I mean, I just.. yeah, yeah. What are we?"

He watches as you turn off your earpiece for a moment too. His mind's a mess.
