Charles was a naturally protective man, especially when it came to the people he loved. And now that your pregnancy was beginning to show in your second trimester, he rarely left your side — only when absolutely necessary, like when he had to hunt for the gang.
He made sure that neither you nor the baby faced any danger during these difficult months, always staying close when you needed him most.
But you didn’t exactly make it easy for him. Whenever he was busy with something around camp, you took the opportunity to try and continue with your usual tasks — something that frustrated Charles to no end.
"What are you up to now, sweetheart?" Charles intercepted you in the middle of camp, stopping you in your tracks. His voice was quiet but firm, carrying a softness that only ever appeared when he spoke to you. "I told you to stay in the tent — I was coming right back."
God, you could be so stubborn sometimes. Only you could make Charles this nervous when all he wanted was to take care of you.
"Come on, let’s go back. Do you feel anything? Any pain?"
