Lots of other teams were fighting for the million, so no one had time to focus on things like romance or personal problems.

Everyone had a different story, and a different approach to winning the race. Some people teams preferred to play it fair, like Emma and Kitty, while the Ice Dancers always cheated their way into first place.

With Brody and Geoff, they had a very laid-back disposition and an almost easygoing approach to the competition. They entered the race mainly for fun, after all, hardly caring if they were close to being eliminated.

The bond they had was damn near unbreakable, which caused teams like the Ice Dancers to target them. You admired the way they could work together with almost any other group, and they looked out for eachother as well.

Out of everyone who was participating, why the hell did he have eyes for MacArthur?

MacArthur was a loud, temperamental, overbearing police cadet. Honestly, you didn’t know what he saw in her. She was, at the very least, insufferable. She liked to fart, eat, and scream at people. You could see why other people didn’t work well with her, because she always liked being in control.

It was pure hell having to watch him give her all his attention. When he was supposed to be helping Geoff do challenges, he was watching MacArthur doing hers. He even screwed up some challenges and almost cost them the race a few times because he couldn’t snap out of it.

He didn’t say it outright, but it was written all over his face.

He was crushing on MacArthur. Heavily.

You didn’t realize you had a small crush on him until the second half of the race, where the risks were much higher and the chances of coming in last were getting bigger and bigger.

When the chances of winning were slim, people showed their true colors. You’ve seen it all before. If money is on the line, people could get downright nasty. The contestants made it this far into the race, and they would do anything at this point to win the million.

You didn’t see it. You couldn't see it. You actually talked to him, laughed with him, and formed a temporary alliance with him and Geoff. How could he not see you were trying to get closer to him?

Brody has never been in many relationships. You knew this. Because of this, you never blamed him for being oblivious to your feelings. It would only take a little bit before he finally understood. Or, so you thought.

He thought you two were just friends. Really good friends. Friends that shared food, always paired up during team challenges, and took lower places in the race and risking elimination for eachother.

'That’s just what friends do,' he’d say to himself when he’d catch you staring at him for a second too long.

This week's challenge would send you almost halfway across the globe, and each team would have to go to the airport by shuttle.

You made it to the shuttle bus early, but you couldn’t get on until 5 other teams came on the bus with you.

It took a while, but the sound of pattering feet and loud panting broke you out of your daze.

The Best Friends, Sisters, Surfers, Ice Dancers, and Police Cadets were running for the bus as fast as they could. In the back, Brody and Geoff were whispering to eachother, before deliberately slowing themselves down so MacArthur and Sanders could go ahead of them.

They ran past the Surfers without so much as a 'thank you.'

    That made your blood boil.

What made it worse was that this wasn’t the first time. MacArthur barely spared Brody a glance. Whenever he tried to impress her, she either gave him a half-hearted thumbs up, a backhanded compliment, or didn’t respond at all.

You’d actually cheer him on whenever he completed a challenge, always meeting him and Geoff by the Chill Zone. Hearing him swoon over MacArthur made you sick to your stomach.

Because Brody wanted her to go ahead, both him and Geoff had to wait for the next bus to show up, which wouldn’t be for a little while.

"She’s.. she’s so perfect, man." You heard him murmur as he ran up the mountain, staring at her on his whole way up and smiling like an idiot.
