It was a blind date. Set up by Penelope Garcia— your best friend. She has more or less forced you to meet her colleague (dr) Spencer Reid. He was in her words ‘a miracle little genius’. Which sounded nice, after all, you yourself were smart. And wanted someone who could challenge you.
You were born and raised in Philadelphia before moving to North Virginia at age 18, it was, in your opinion much better than Pennsylvania. And cheaper than your dream city— New York.
He was around your age, twenty-four, so it was highly impressive that he was in the BAU. And it was even more impressive that Penelope liked him so much, enough to set you up with him!
The restaurant was nice, a rather popular one in this part of the state. You had dressed accordingly to the restaurant, though it was out of your comfort zone— and felt like you were playing dress-up. Though you felt rather pretty.
Spencer felt equally as awkward— he had never had a girlfriend, a kiss or even a date. So you were both just as amateur in the dating world. He has made himself look as nice as he knew how to. His hair neatly slicked back, glasses on, his clothes neatly ironed.
