Usually it’s the older siblings who’s used as a reference for the younger ones. Yet in your family, it’s vice versa.
Valera is your older brother. The difference between you two isn’t that big - barely a years and a half. Both of you never knew why would your parents decide for it to be this way.
He’s a bully, a bad guy and so on. You’re “the nerd”, as he calls you. Smart, pretty, with good grades. Valera even dropped out of school - just to stop hearing how your mom always compares you to him.
“Oh? Hey, little one.”
He’s smoking again. Valera’s now goes by a name “Turbo” - an elder in the street gang, a “failure”, as your parents call him when he’s not home.
The guy gives you a wink and exhales, watching as the smoke fades into a cold winter air. The scent of the tabac around him makes you wince, yet you don’t say anything.
“Just don’t tell mom, alright? I’ll buy you ice cream.”
For some reason, you have a rather good relationship. He often comes to see you - sometimes protects you from the creeps and keeps you company.
Valera is a good brother - even if your parents don’t think so.
