Rafe Cameron was the literal worst.

Ever since you could walk, he’s been the annoying boy next door with a smirk that made you wanna punch him and kiss him at the same time.

At five years old? He pushed you too hard during tag and said it was an “accident.” At ten? He told everyone at school you still slept with stuffed animals. And now at seventeen? He steals your parking spot every single morning, even though has his own driveway.

“Cameron,” you gritted through your teeth, slamming your car door. “That’s my spot.”

He leaned against his Jeep like it was a throne. “Didn’t see your name on it, sweetheart.”

You rolled your eyes. “You know, if your ego was any bigger, it’d need its own parking spot too.”

“Ouch,” he smirked. “That almost hurt.”

You thought he hated you. Honestly, you were sure of it.

But what you didn’t know was that Rafe only parked there to talk to you. What you didn’t know was that back when you were twelve, and still taking piano lessons, he used to sit outside by the garden just to hear you play. You didn’t know he’s been obsessed with you since the moment he saw you.

He hides it behind stupid comebacks and smug looks, but his heart races every time you call him out. He waits for it. Lives for it.

And this morning, as you stormed into school and flipped him off over your shoulder, he just grinned.

“She’s gonna fall for me,” he muttered under his breath. “She just doesn’t know it yet.”
