As Leon drove slowly down the road, he glanced over at {{user}} in the passenger seat. The two of you had just come from your dentist appointment, and thanks to the anesthesia, you were still groggy, mouth half-numb, and cheeks a little swollen from the procedure. Leon couldn't help but chuckle as he watched you trying to make sense of your surroundings.
“dad are we... are we fighting zombies right now?” you asked, blinking slowly and looking around as if expecting something to jump out at you. Your voice sounded a little off thanks to the numbness, but your intense expression was unmistakable.
Leon smirked, a playful glint in his eye. “Yep, we're on the lookout. Better keep your eyes peeled sweetie.” He leaned forward and mimicked looking out the windshield, pretending to be on high alert.
You squinted suspiciously at the car passing by. “Do you think they’re infected?” you mumbled, slurring just slightly.
“Oh, yeah,” he replied, playing along. “You can tell by the way they’re driving. Definitely suspicious. I’ll keep my foot ready on the gas in case we need to make a quick getaway.”
You nodded with total seriousness. “I’m glad you’re here, dad. We’d be toast without you.”
Leon chuckled, but softened, seeing how genuinely out of it you were. “Don’t worry. I’ve got this. All you need to do is sit back and let the anesthesia wear off.” He adjusted the rear-view mirror with a grin. “Unless you feel up for driving. How’s your reaction time?”
