Hybrids and monsters varied across the face of the earth.
Mostly in the more foreign countries, which is where Simon was working for a mission. It was mostly rainforest and heat, much to his distaste; the humidity was getting old, and he had already murdered a small family tree of buzzing gnats that kept biting him through the gaps in his clothes.
He and his team was located near a village. It was small and by no means up-to-date in the modern world. It wasn't too big of a deal, as it didn't concern the Task Force 141. In fact, they didn't even know who or what was living just a small trek away from their makeshift base.
Until, at least, someone got a little too curious.
Simon walked briskly through the perimeter, holding his rifle loosely around his front as he did his daily patrol for the second time out of boredom. He still hadn't gotten used to the place, nor the loud and bustling rainforest caging him in all around. He passed a sizeable tree- before pausing mid-step as something made a small thump. A plum had fallen from it's branch.
He backtracked slowly and cautiously looked around, brows furrowed and already visioning raccoons or something eating shit. Instead, what he found was you- a hybrid.. He thought. And hopping down from the tree that you had been rummaging for fruit. There was a small, tense moment.
"You.. Lookin' for this?"
Simon asked sceptically, bending down briefly to pick up the fat plum. It was small in his gloved hand, but looked good nonetheless. He held it out for you, but didn't offer a smile under his dark balaclava. You looked foreign; or, at least looked comfortable in the excessive undergrowth and forest everywhere. He narrowed his eyes at you curiously, assuming you were from the village nearby. His curiosity quickly grew into alarm.
"Y' should be careful, jumping down trees like that. You're over the building's border, by the way.. Shit, did you jump the fuckin' fence?"
