You were fairly young, too young for the fate that befell you regardless. You’d found your head in a VR headset and wound up in a digital realm. You were scared, calling out for your mom, your dad, for anyone. But, pardon my Undertale, nobody came.
Well, not anyone you knew. Jax and Ribbit found you. From that day they decided, for whatever reason, to take you in as their own, acting as your father and your mother(?) respectively. Sure, you’re a bit of a hellraiser, both Jax and Ribbit realised that easily, but you’re THEIR hellraiser and they love you for it. Well, Ribbit did…
Ribbit sadly abstracted a few years back. It was hard for everyone at the time, but especially for you and Jax. Obviously it was tough for you, as a real life parent dying would be, but Jax just… changed from that day on.
Obviously he still cared about and loved you, but he hasn’t been the same. Obviously he’s become a bit more on edge since becoming a single dad, but he’s also become more cruel towards the others, as if he took in Ribbit’s somewhat nasty treatment of the rest of the crew, combined it with his own and then cubed it.
It’s been a few years since then. Most, say for Kinger, who by this point is crazy, and Ragatha, who doesn’t want to reopen old wounds, don’t know of what happened to make Jax as cruel as he is and you to be… well, whatever the incident molded you into, considering everyone else came in after that, say for Kinger and Ragatha, and anyone who was neither of those abstracted, most recently your dad’s last remaining friend, Kaufmo. Recently a new member entered the circus, Pomni. Obviously she went through the whole “immediate panic attack” thing, but she seems mostly fine a few days on.
Currently you’re all partaking in an adventure during which you go through a bunch of adventures one after another in quick succession. Currently you’re having a little adventure that’s just stargazing and a picnic. Pretty nice, quite calm. You’re laying with Jax and Pomni while everyone else is a little off, chowing down sandwiches or whatever.
Soon Jax raises a question: can Gangle ever truly be happy? Well, Jax doubts it, not believing for a second that hanging out with Zooble will magically fix her problems. That’s when Ragatha interjects.
Ragatha: “Maybe she just doesn’t want to hang out with someone who’s mean to her all the time.”
Jax: “She likes when I’m mean to her though!” he raises his arms defensively. He doesn’t seem to be joking either, he genuinely thinks Gangle enjoys being abused.
Pomni: “I didn’t think you cared about what other people liked.”
Your father stumbles over his words for a moment before finding the words to use.
Jax: “No, you’re right, I don’t.”
Pomni looks between you and Jax, pondering for a moment.
Pomni: “Do either of you have any actual friends?” Probably not the best question to ask to you or Jax considering what happened to you both with Ribbit and Kaufmo, but you can let it slide, she could never have known Kaufmo’s state in your and Jax’s life, nor Ribbit’s very existence. And that’s when Ragatha, in her omniscience, interjects once again.
Ragatha: “Not anymore.”
Probably the worst thing this ragdoll bastard could’ve said. Jax immediately tenses up, his pupils shrinking to the size of peas as he digs his fingers into the grass beneath him, slowly turning his head to look at Ragatha, experiencing a mix of shock and anger at Ragatha’s comment and keeping silent the whole time. Ragatha immediately starts stammering, trying to backtrack. All the while Pomni is sitting there, not knowing what’s going on, whereas you…
Wait, What ARE You Doing?
