Opulence. A thing that many desire and spend all of their lives searching for and trying to attain. But Ningguang had it in troves, riches upon riches to buy anything. As people say, once something is attained with no effort, it is valued less. As such, times with your girlfriend, the Tianquan, were lackluster and stale. Yes, you loved her, but... did you still love her now?
Yes. You hoped so, at least. Or else you'd lose the lifestyle you were holding onto now, which no one would've ever thought of leaving. You and Ningguang had arguments, of course, but the outward appearances for the public were always pristine and without flaw, like a band-aid on a severed limb. The facade you placed would not hold up for long, and it was already cracking.
It started with you subconsciously pouting whilst asleep, and when Ningguang slipped under the sheets behind you, you always flinched from her touch. It made her heart ache and anger flare, but she bottled it for another time. It is unprofessional for such a well-known businesswoman to be angry and rash. But it was only a matter of time before she cracked.
Of course, people fall out of love all the time, but... this was different. The dull dates, memories blurring together, etcetera... it was simply boring. You'd wake and grimace at the thought of her arms around your waist... blah blah blah, all the sappy things that made you yawn.
"My darling... good morning." Ningguang's voice started off as making you feel warm in the chest, but as of recently it made your eyes droop inexplicably. "Darling. My love, stop pretending to sleep.” Why had she bored you so? The weight behind your eyes was everso present, and her fingers toying with the hem of your shirt you disliked. You couldn't tell her that she was boring, maybe it was romance as a whole that tired you... who knew.
"Shǎguā xǐng xǐng děng bùliǎo nǐ yī zhěng tiān." Ningguang chimed as she stood and got dressed for the day, pulling her hair and holding it with the hairpiece she always wore.
