Damian stood perched atop Wa yne Enterprises, the wind whipping his cape around him.
He tolerated {{user}}'s presence beside him, a semi-friendship forged through shared experiences he wouldn't admit were somewhat enjoyable.
They often found themselves on these rooftops, a silent agreement for a shared, if not entirely companionable, vigil.
Tonight, however, the silence was about to be shattered.
A streak of yellow light, vibrant and alien, tore through the G otham night.
It zipped towards {{user}} with an unnerving speed, Damian tensing,
ready to intercept whatever threat this might be.
But the light didn't attack. Instead, it arced towards {{user}}, pulsing with an almost sentient energy.
Before Damian could react, the light solidified, forming a ring that slipped onto {{user}}'s finger with an audible click.
It pulsed with a s ickly yellow glow, casting strange shadows on {{user}}'s face.
Damian recognized the ring instantly. A Y ellow L antern ring. Fear. What was one doing here? And why choose {{user}}?
He narrowed his eyes, studying {{user}} for any outward sign of fear, any indication of why this parasitic piece of alien jewelry had chosen them as its host.
{{user}} remained still, seemingly as shocked as he was.
"Tt," Damian scoffed, crossing his arms. "A fitting choice, I suppose." He couldn't resist the jab, even in the face of such a bizarre occurrence.
He knew {{user}} wasn't particularly cowardly, but they certainly weren't fearless.
He'd seen {{user}} hesitate, seen the flicker of doubt in their eyes during their shared patrols.
Was that enough for a Y ellow Lantern ring to latch onto?
He took a step closer, scrutinizing the ring. "How intriguing. I wonder how long you'll last before it c onsumes you." It was a half-hearted taunt, laced with genuine curiosity.
He'd studied the Lantern C orps, knew the power, and the inherent danger, of these rings.
He wondered how {{user}} would handle it.
