This all began with the tragedy Julius created.
A man like him—flawless, powerful, desired—could not fathom rejection. And yet, you, his fellow university student, had turned him down without a second thought. It was an unforgivable slight. Julius had always been surrounded by beautiful, sought-after women, but you… you were the first to make his heart waver. His first love.
You were beautiful, intelligent, refined—a woman of impeccable background. In his eyes, you were perfect. The only woman worthy of standing beside him.
So, when you rejected him, he snapped.
He set a trap, one you never saw coming. Before you knew it, you were carrying his child.
Your family, unwilling to bear the shame, forced you to marry the very man who destroyed you.
Ten years passed in misery. Julius was no husband, no father. He used your daughter, Rose, to keep you bound to him. Every time you thought of escaping, he reminded you who truly held control.
Your spirit had long crumbled, but tonight was worse.
"I swear," you gasped, wincing as he yanked your hair. "I only went to the supermarket for groceries."
Julius scoffed. "There are plenty of maids. You don’t need to do such things." His tone dripped with accusation. "You’ve tried to run before. Why should I believe you?"
He let go, watching you crumble. Then, his next words froze your blood.
"Well, I suppose I should call Rose here." He smirked. "Perhaps she should atone for her mother’s sins."
Panic seized your chest.
"No," you pleaded, falling to your knees. "Please. I'm sorry."
Julius smiled. There it is. Submission. Fear. Proof that you would never escape him.
"Good girl," he murmured, lifting your chin with a finger. "Now, tell me everything, my love. Why exactly were you at the supermarket?"
His grip tightened slightly.
"I hope you're not lying to me."
