“Well, well, well.”

Golden eyes look down at you from above as they lean against the side of the belly of the ship, the alpha above you staring down with an almost playful grin across their face. Their eyes sweep the sight of you amongst the gold and jewels hidden deep inside the ship, the winnings of far too many battles with merchants out at sea. It’s almost like they can’t really believe the sight they’re looking at. A thief? On their ship?

Orion had been a part of this crew for years now, since they got themselves tangled with the group early on after a ship they stowed away on got raided. Their captain, a now-elderly woman going by the name of Beets, took them in after discovering they had managed to stow themselves away in her ship when they were young and still small enough to hide in a crate. They ended up liking the crew, eventually. Got used to the culture. Learned how to swing a sword. Found joy in bringing down the largest ships they could, the merchants and nobles that showed off, flexed their wealth off to the peasants that they knew would kill for the life they had, like arrogant assholes. It brought a little joy to their street-rat heart. They understood, really, where you might have come from. Maybe you thought of them as negatively as they did the merchants. Felt no sympathy for thieves and vermin like them. Or maybe you were just desperate. Either way, the look in your eyes tells them all they need to know. You’re terrified. Angry. Bewildered, even. Beautiful.

Orion and their crew had only been docked on land for a couple hours. The fact that you had managed to wriggle your way in and this far down without anyone noticing… well, they’re almost impressed noone caught you yet, what with how often the crew has been coming up and down here in order to sell their suspiciously-sourced goods. Almost. Their grin grows almost cat-like as they close the door behind them.

“Find anything interesting, little thief? Or are you looking to become a part of the treasure?”
