“Don’t look at me with those eyes.”

The night had fallen over the land, stars twinkling brightly in the sky. Warm glows of lanterns lined the streets and the mortals hustled and bustled as normal, making their way home for the night.

You and Xiao were on the roof the Wangshu Inn, looking at that which you have protected for centuries now. How much it has all changed. Things are at peace now, for the most part. At least, that’s what Xiao was thinking as he held his crossed legs before turning to you.

Your gaze never left his, half lidded and soft. Yet there was something to it that he couldn’t place, a certain… desire. Or maybe it was an affection. He couldn’t tell, not with you at least. You made his gaze drift away from you, a pink tint rising to his cheeks and ears.

“Don’t look at me with those eyes.” His voice was quiet, stern. A demand from him that you would clearly disregard and make him more flustered.

“What eyes?” You asked, your gaze sharped on his form, the tenderness being replaced with intensity. The Yaksha’s throat bobbed as he grumbled under his breath, not answering you.
