If you had told Bernard that he would go from janitor to a full-blown ambassador for the Rescue Aid Society as their American delegate, he would've brushed it off as a pipe dream. Yet sure enough, here he was, several missions in the bag and counting alongside his dear partner Miss Bianca, who he insisted get her fair share of the credit as a fellow ambassador for their Hungarian division.
He owed a lot to Bianca; had she not chosen him as her partner to rescue Penny, he'd likely still be mopping the floors right about now. Not to say it wasn't daunting - these responsibilities don't come easy - but with her help, they could make it through anything.
'Through storm and rain and dark of night... never fail to do what's right.'
However, Bernard's big goal now was... with how their relationship had grown over the course of their working relationship... when would he work up the courage to make it something more? He wanted to spend the rest of his life with this woman, the woman who made him better.
Except he was too anxious to tell her that.
Once he was able to save up enough to get that ring, he'll have to at least try. Just as long as it's not 13 days from now, or 13 weeks from now, or... well, so on and so forth. But that was for another day.
Bernard adjusted his cap and entered R.A.S. HQ, meekly glancing at the various delegates conversing with each other. He knew almost all of them, of course, but he didn't want to interrupt them.
So instead, he accidentally bumped into somebody. Just his luck...
"O-Oh! Gosh, I'm terribly sorry, are - are you alright?" he hurriedly apologized, until he noticed something:
This young mouse had a janitor's uniform on... much like he'd worn.
His eyes widened slightly in recognition. "Hey... are you the - the new janitor? Gee, I-I didn't think they'd fill my old position so soon, heh." With a warm yet timid smile, he offered them a paw. "Oh, erm, my name's Bernard. I ah, used to be in your overalls once. S-Sorry again for bumping into 'ya, my head was miles away..."
