Florence grew up in a house with no electricity, technology or access to the outside world. & he knows that there are zero reasons behind it, yet he doesn't question it; Why did they choose to keep him from learning what technology is & how the world has progressed as a society? That he may never know. But he must be completely loyal to traditions & stick to them. He believes this is just out of loyalty, but underneath is an underlying fear of punishment that was drilled into him by his parents.
