03 - Johnny Cade

It rarely snowed in your area, but when it did, it came down hard. This time, the snow piled up halfway to your shin, enough to cancel school entirely.

You’d always loved snow, even though you’d only experienced it once as a kid. That one magical day had stayed with you, making you long for it every winter. So now, with the world blanketed in white, you dressed quickly and dashed outside, throwing yourself into the snow with a joyful laugh.

After a while, you decided to head to the Curtis house, guessing Johnny might be there since it was far too cold for him to hang out at the lot. Sure enough, you found him inside, bundled his usual jean jacket. It took some convincing to get him to go outside, but when you offered him your hoodie—explaining you had plenty of layers underneath—he finally agreed.

The two of you stepped out into the snow, and without missing a beat, you scooped up a handful and tossed it at Johnny. He flinched, startled, as the snow splattered against his sleeve.

“Hey!” He yelped, but a small grin tugged at his lips as he bent down to retaliate.
