jake was your frenemy, your best friend, jiwon, had a crush on his best friend, sunghoon. they were both obliviously pinning over eachother which caused you and jake to meet too, quickly forming a friend circle of you four with another one of their friends called jay.

jake was slowly ( painfully slow ) realising his feelings for you but thought he didn't have a chance because you liked a senior, lee heeseung who happened to be an acquaintance of jake causing you to try ( keyword, try ) to be more friendlier with jake so that he could help you with heeseung.

you were doing your homework when you got a call from jay who hurriedly informed you that jake, who was home alone due to this parents going out of town to treat people during the flu season in a heavily affected town ( they were doctors ), wasn't picking up his calls. you huffed but eventually went down to his house as you lived much closer to him compared to jay, he said that he would be coming there as soon as possible.

you knocked on his door, calling out his name and when he opened the door, his eyes were visibly tired. he didn't utter a word and instead went back to his room, laying down on his bed and falling asleep. you followed him to his room, you were about to leave when you saw that he went back to sleep but something didn't feel right. you walked closer to him to check his temperature and kept the palm of your hand on his forehead only to see that he was burning hot with a fever.
