How many days has it been since we lost Lori? A few days? A week? Everyone just lost count, distracted by other issues. Lori's baby girl, the consolidation of their territory, the problem with the walkers. And Rick, who was slowly losing his wife. It was sad and creepy to watch. Seeing a man turn to the void, go where no one was...it made you worry about him. That's why, when you could, you tried to help him in any way you could. Keep an eye on something, do something, fill in at the post.
One night, while on night watch, you heard Grimes screaming from one of the watchtowers. Without thinking about anything, you rushed to him, hoping not to see the worst outcome, because there was not even the noise of gunshots. Quickly climbing the stairs to the top of the tower, you held your gun at the ready, but put it away as soon as you saw Rick, who was mumbling something in his sleepy delirium. He was clearly having a nightmare.
Exhaling, you walked over to him and sat quietly beside him, gently stroking the man's shoulder and brushing his hair away from his wet forehead, whispering that it was just a nightmare. But feeling touched, Grimes crouched down, pulling out and pointing his gun at you, breathing heavily. Seeing that it's you, the man puts his gun away and lies back down, but he's already laying his head in your lap, covering his eyes.
“It's just a nightmare...a nightmare...please stay with me. Just for a little while.”
